"It was a dark, stormy night. The
wind was howling, the snow was piling, and the sheep were huddling close.
Inside a small mountain cabin, Christine lay asleep. What was going
on in her mind during that sleep is what would guide the rest of her life."
"The dream may have been reactionary considering the cold, lonely place where she had been waiting for three days for a snowplow. But Christine says she likes to think of it as a message that she would eventually deliver to the rest of the world." Argonaut 12/12/93
Christine was born and raised in such exotic New Zealand locales as Otahuhu
and Papatoetoe, Auckland where she pursued a career in teaching.
In 1977, while snowed in at a mountain retreat, she awoke from an awesome
dream in which she conceived the MEE Family characters and stories.
Due to the overwhelming response from children, parents and teachers, Christine came to the United States to pursue a new dream--to become a successful author. Christine combines a love of children and books with a love of jogging--she was a finisher in the 1983 Honolulu marathon. Christine is raising three children, ages 10, 6 and 4, while pursuing her Mee Family business. She is inspired to make the world a brighter, happier place where children can feel loved and valued. By creating the world of MEE--a world populated by cuddly, smilely-faced, multi-cultured cloth dolls, and writing stores that promote positive self-esteem, Christine's dream is on the road to realization. The world of MEE does not end with stories and dolls. Under the MEE and Mrs G. label, Christine produces home-baked banana bread and cookies, all with the help of the MEE Kids Cookie Gang! Christine's direction is to establish the "SMILE WITH MEE" Foundation--a non-profit organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged children achieve their ultimate dreams and tTo effect positive change towards global healing! The books with their simple artistic drawings and language have assisted pre-readers with learning to read, and now are being used successfully to teach Autistic children to read. Other titles to look forward to are: "The MEE Family;" "MEE and his cat SPOOKY;" "MRS. has a baby;" "MEE and his friend the alphabet;" "MEE plays dressing up;" "MEE and his friendly self;" "Boomerangs return and so do Smiles;" "Can you spot MEE?;" "MEE's Shadowy friend;" and "Gifts from MEE."
